Halie Loren and her band bring a little extra warmth, sweetness, humor, and light to Newport this holiday season, performing the familiar fare of nostalgic favorites done in classic fashion alongside songs that play with seasonal themes in unexpected ways.

Thomas Lauderdale and Hunter Noack

Thomas Lauderdale, founder of Portland’s “little orchestra” Pink Martini, will be joined by acclaimed pianist Hunter Noack, conductor Adam Flatt and the NSO for a performance of George Gershwin’s jazzy masterpiece Rhapsody in Blue in its rarely heard two-piano version. Lauderdale and Noack will also perform Gottschalk’s flashy showpiece, the Grand Tarantelle. There is no space more intimate than the 328-seat Alice Silverman Theater with its state-of-the-art acoustics, with each seat wrapped in sound and having a perfect view.

Music from the Mad Men Era

Join conductor Adam Flatt with the NSO and vocal group Five By Design for a wild and wonderful evening of music from the early 1960’s, the era of the Madison Avenue Mad Men. Five By Design’s signature harmonies have withstood the test of time in a career that stands out on America’s musical landscape spanning more than twenty years. This performance includes music such as Mission Impossible theme, A lot of livin’ to do, Mack the Knife, Bossa Nova, Night and Day, Come fly with me, and a TV theme medley. This is a fun evening for all generations!

Corvallis Repertory Singers is an award-winning choral ensemble founded in 2000 by Dr. Steven M. Zielke. Most members have studied voice and many have professional music degrees. All members are drawn together by their passion for sharing high-quality choral music. All share a life-long enthusiasm for the best in choral music and the opportunity to perform under skilled direction.

The Central Coast Chorale was founded by Director Mary Lee Scoville and local residents as a vehicle for Central Coast community men and women who enjoy singing and listening to music in a convivial and professional setting. The Chorale has doubled in size and today boasts over 65 members. The Chorale last appeared with the Newport Symphony in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in September 2010.
