Casey Bozell, violin
Casey Bozell is concertmaster of the Newport Symphony Orchestra. Along with her performing career which includes positions with Orchestra Nova Northwest, Oregon Ballet Theater, Portland Opera, and the Oregon Symphony, Casey has maintained a private violin, viola, and piano studio for 20 years. She has been the violin instructor and chamber music director for the past 14 years at Young Musicians and Artists in Salem, OR. She's also the creator and host of the semi-regular podcast Keep Classical Weird. Casey lives in the Portland area with her partner, 6-year-old daughter, and the three best and worst cats in the world.

Teaches: beginning to advanced violin and viola to students of all ages in Newport and Florence. Barbara has over 45 years teaching experience on the Oregon Coast. Member of Newport Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra and Sea Strings Quartet. She is conductor of the Overture Strings, the beginning musicians in the youth symphony program and the Newport Youth Symphony of the Oregon Coast.

Mindy Simon, violin and viola

Mindy obtained her long term Suzuki Association teacher training while attending Northern Arizona University and completed registration of units 1A - 10 in 1991. She has been involved in music here on the coast since moving here in 2001. She is currently a member of Sea Strings Quartet, a teacher with the NSO Family Strings program, and enjoys playing in as many pit orchestras for musicals at the Performing Arts Center and surrounding areas as possible.

LeeAnn McKenna, flute
Born and raised in Rhode Island, LeeAnn now resides in Yachats, Oregon where she maintains a private teaching studio, online and in person. She performs regularly, both in Oregon and in New England. Presently, she is a member of the the ensemble “Thousand Waves”, an eclectic ensemble consisting of flute, Spanish guitar, Japanese koto, and percussion. LeeAnn graduated from Wheaton College (Massachusetts) and University of Oregon where she received her M-Mus degree in Flute Performance. She has worked with some of the world’s most accomplished flutists including Jean Pierre Rampal, Donald Peck (Chicago Symphony), and Lois Schaefer (Boston Symphony) to name a few. She has performed throughout New England, the West Coast, and parts of Europe on flute and recorder, and was a member of various orchestras on the East and West coasts.

Margarite Waddell, french horn
French hornist Margarite Waddell holds positions with the Eugene Symphony, Boise Philharmonic, Rogue Valley Symphony, and Newport Symphony. As a freelancer, Margarite has performed with ensembles across the country including the Oregon Symphony, Utah Symphony, Sarasota Opera, Portland Opera, Oakland Symphony, and Symphony San Jose. She has performed with popular artists such as The Who, Josh Groban, and Sarah Brightman. Margarite cares deeply about music education and has taught private lessons, sectionals, and masterclasses since 2013 and was on faculty at the Renova Music Festival in 2024. In addition, she performed in the San Francisco Symphony's Adventures in Music program for the 2016-2017 season. Margarite received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon, and her master’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

James Kuzmic, low brass
James Kuzmic hails from Allenton Wisconsin and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a Master’s Degree from the University of Oregon. He currently holds the positions as Principal Tuba of the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra and the Newport Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Bass Trombonist for Orchestra Next. While not on stage performing, James also serves as the Instructor of Low Brass at Lane Community College. As an active musician, James performs all around the state of Oregon with groups including the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Portland Opera, and the Sunriver Music Festival Orchestra. As a soloist, James has performed many recitals on the tuba, bass trombone, euphonium, and contrabass trombone, and been the featured soloist with the UWSP Low Brass Choir, Hartford City Band, and the UO Trombone Choir. Another passion of James’ is composition, where he has premiered several works with various university and community ensembles. James also loves sharing his love for music with students, being asked to coach various highschool and middle school summer camps, giving masterclasses, teaching private lessons, and adjudicating state solo & ensembles.
