At the March 2024 concert, Maestro Adam Flatt and NSO President Loria Holden recognized four retiring NSO musicians, acknowledging their decades of service to this remarkable orchestra. Each of the musicians joined the orchestra when it was known as the Yaquina Chamber Orchestra. Saturday evening Adam praised founding member, Barbara Wilcox, a violinist in the orchestra since 1989, who had retired during the pandemic, explaining that even after retiring, Barbara continues to support the NSO youth music programs conducting the Newport Youth Symphony of the Oregon Coast. On Sunday afternoon Adam and Loria recognized principal cellist Barbara Johnston and timpanist Craig Johnston, orchestra members since 1990, and trumpeter Brad Capshaw who joined in 1991.
