Surf, Sand, and Symphony

Against a background of crashing surf and shifting sand, the Newport Symphony Orchestra will present a season of fabulous music, from perennial favorites by Haydn, Gershwin, and Dvorák to less familiar but stunning works by Kellogg, Bloch, and Weber. The season will include a concert featuring phenomenal young violinist Lindsay Deutsch, who will not only grace the Performing Arts Center stage, but will make educational appearances all over the county. Portland’s Arnica String Quartet will make an appearance as the NSO’s Guest Artist in December. And throughout the season, Music Director Adam Flatt has delights and surprises in store.

The NSO will also continue its educational mission, bringing its musicians to schools and sponsoring student performances with the Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra to give local students an opportunity to see what it’s like to play in an orchestra. The season will also include our “lucky seventh” annual free Fourth of July concert.

Please join us for a season of music as dramatic as its coastal backdrop!
