Surf, Sand, and Symphony
Do you dream of running with the bulls in Spain or dancing with a Mariachi band in Mexico? Have you been longing for mystery and intrigue in your life? Does your heart race with the thrill of not knowing exactly where the road will lead you?
Then hold on tight, because the 2011-2012 season of the Newport Symphony promises thrills and adventure around every turn! We start with the works of Verdi and Wagner, highlighting the grand romance and tragedy that can only be found on stage. Next, we travel south and explore the rich musical heritage and culture of Mexico. We add a little mystery with our next concert, as we wander into the forest of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Finally, in a whirlwind trip, we travel to Spain and Japan, enjoying the beautiful music of Ravel and Takemitsu. We return home in time for our annual free community concert to celebrate the 4th of July!
